Belt Grading Information 

  • Students who have been selected for their next belt grade, will be listed in the Student All Information Table

  • Once approved you are Required to complete the grading form emailed to you.

  • The grading fee is required to be paid in cash in a named envelope or via our online bank account a minimum of 72 hrs prior to the scheduled grading. All payments after this date will be subject to a £3 late admin payment. Payments are not accepted on the day of the grading and students will not be permitted to attend the grading

  • All students grading for Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, 10th Gup, 9th Gup, 8th Gup and 7th Gup will take their belt testing in their regular training class during the set grading week. All grading dates & Times can be viewed on our website calendar.

  • All Students grading for Intermediate and Advanced Belt Grades (6th Gup, 5th Gup, 4th Gup, 3rd Gup, 2nd Gup, 1st Gup, Cho Dan Bo & Black Belt Part 1 are required to attend the main grading sessions. All grading dates & Times can be viewed on our website calendar.

  • Family attendance to watch and support is welcome! The times of viewer admittance (VA) can be viewed on our website calender. 

  • Family may attend to watch their child training in class on this in regular training class belt grading day, even if their child has not been recommended for this belt grading day

  • A Grading form will be emailed to all students grading

  1. The Grading form must be READ, COMPLETED AND SIGNED.​

  2. The Student grading should read the grading requirements section to fully understand their on the day requirements.

  3. The Theory required for EVERY GRADING STUDENT must be completed by the grading student and written on the reverse of the grading form. The Snow Herons Martial Arts/The Educational Martial Arts Handbook is only to be used for all terminology. This Handbook can be viewed in the SHMA website Members Section.

  4. The Grading Form must be returned fully completed, Signed and with the Terminology Completed.

Grading for Level 1, 2 0r 3: £15 (Includes New Belt)

Grading for 10th Gup: £20 (Includes New Belt and Certificate)

Grading for 9th Gup: £20 (Includes New Belt)

Grading for 8th Gup: £25 (Includes New Belt)

Grading for 7th Gup: £25 (Includes New Belt)

Grading for 6th Gup: £30 (Includes New Belt, Woodern Board, Uniform Trim and Certificate)

Grading for 5th Gup: £30 (Includes New Belt and Woodern Board)

Grading for 4th Gup: £35 (Includes New Belt, Woodern Board and Uniform Trim)

Grading for 3rd Gup: £35 (Includes New Belt and Woodern Board)

Grading for 2nd Gup: £40 (Includes New Belt, Woodern Board, Uniform Trim and Certificate)

Grading for 1st Gup: £40 (Includes New Belt and Woodern Board)

Grading for CDB Gup: £45 (Includes New Belt, 2 x Woodern Board and Certificate)

NOTE

Forms not returned, completed or without the students Terminology Completed will not be awarded their belt at the grading if they do pass the Technical Syllabus aspect of the grading. 

Students who cannot attend the scheduled grading week (calendar) have 4 options:

1. Attend a Semi Private Grading (+£12 to the grading). See Calendar for these dates.

​2. Pay for a Private Grading and arrange a suitable grading time with SHMA via snowheronsmartialarts@gmail.com. Private gradings are the same cost as a Private Lesson (30 Minutes Beginners grading £25, 60 Minutes Intermediate and Advanced grading £50, 75 Minutes Cho Dan Bo or Black Belt Part 1 £60). Students may split the Private grading lesson fee with another student in the same belt range wishes to share the booking.

3. Attend a Holiday Camp and grade on the Camp Week (Grading days and Times are set times unless you book a Private Lesson Grading on the Holiday Camp. Holiday Camp information can be found on our Website.

4. Wait until the next main grading period (March/June/December).​

Note

  • Students are required to be lined up and ready to start the grading at the scheduled grading time. Students who are late will not be allowed to join the grading. We suggest you arrive 20 - 30 minutes prior to the scheduled grading time to allow for parking and preparation (Venue entry, toilet, hand washing etc).

  • Students who are late will be refussed grading admittance. To grade students will need to either attend a semi-private /private grading.

  •  Students who do not attend the grading and do not inform SHMA VIA EMAIL OR TEXT a mimimum of 2 hrs before the scheduled grading start time will not be refunded the grading fee.

  • All students uniforms are to be presentable for a grading (Clean, Ironed if required, correct trouser length (no roll ups from the bottom of the trousers) and with the required sewn TEMAS badge (from 9th gup) or uniform trim (from 6th Gup). Temas Badges are presented to students passing their 10th Gup, Yellow Belt.

  • The student grading attendance times and uniform grading requirements  and are required to show respect to the Art, fellow students and the grading examiner.

  • Correct Theory not submitted on the grading date will prevent the student receiving a grade result. All theory must be completed within 14 days of the grading date to receive a grading result. Theory that has not been received within this 14 day period will render the grading a fail. The student will be allowed to regrade without additional grading fee at the next main grading.Only 1 Free regrade for non Theory presentaion will be allowed per grade.

  • The grading registration form must be submitted 24 Hrs prior to the selected grading date and time. After thus set 24 hrs the registration will be subject to a £3 late registration fee.

  • All 2025 onwards, students will only receive certificates upon passing their 10th Gup (first Gup award), 6th Gup (Intermediate Grade), 2nd Gup (Advanced Grade), CDB (Black Belt Candidate) & All Black Belts.
