Studio Rules (Coronavirus)

  • You are required to wash your hands thoroughly as soon as you enter the training facility.

  • Students are requested to arrive within their designated arrival time.
  • Students 7 yrs+ are required to wear a mask the entire time of their training session unless otherwise given permission by the senior class Instructor to remove the mask once all students have been placed in line. Students may choose to keep the mask on the entirety of the class.
  • Students are permitted up to 30 minutes of late arrival time; however, students who arrive during this late period may be requested to wait on the sidelines until the Instructor has finished the class warm-up and stretching. Students arriving after the 30-minutes late arrival period will not be permitted to join the class, regardless of rank or age.
  • Students who arrive in the late period must wait at the side of the training floor for the instructor's permission to enter the class; they will then join at the back of the student line.
  • Show your respect by pausing at the entrance to the Do Jang (Martial Art Training Hall) to face the flags and salute the Flags (you will be shown how in your first class). This demonstrates respect for your country, our style, and our training. We then ask you to stop as you enter the Do Jang, at the sidelines, in view of the senior class instructor, and bow to show your respect. The senior class instructor will acknowledge your attendance. You should also perform this discipline upon leaving the Do Jang.
  • Once entering the Do Jang you should refrain from talking (even as you walk along the sidelines to the permitted areas). Talking is allowed in the rest areas outside the Do Jang, however, you should speak quietly and prepare your mind for the upcoming class.
  • You are expected to maintain a clean and ironed uniform with all the required badges.
  • You are expected to maintain a high standard of personal Hygiene.
  • *Sports shoes are not to be worn in the training area without prior approval from the class instructor. * Clean Trainers (with plain socks) are required to be worn to all classes during this Coronavirus period.
  • Students with verrucas must have a suitable covering of the verruca or wear clean trainers with prior approval from the instructor.
  • *All Students and Guardians (watching or preparing for class) are NOT to enter the training area under any circumstances unless invited to do so by the senior class instructor. * Parents are not permitted inside the Do Jang without prior permission from the Senior Class Instructor; only parents of students with Special Educational Needs or under 7 yrs old are permitted inside the Do Jang during this Coronavirus period and only with prior permission from the Senior Class Instructor.
  • Parents are reminded that talking in the Do Jang is prohibited as this disrupts the students’ concentration and shows disrespect to the students, Instructors, and teaching assistants who are conducting the class.
  • Parents and students watching the class are asked not to engage with the students who are training.
  • Only SHMA training students are permitted in the students’ changing area.
  • Mobile electronic devices (Phones, Tablets, Laptops, etc) are not permitted to be used inside any area that has students preparing to train or are training.
  • Photos & videos at events such as competitions or gradings may be authorized on the day providing that SHMA has ensured that all students in the photo or video give permission and that the persons taking the Photo or video do not post onto any media sites without prior approval. SHMA will prosecute all persons in violation of the above statement.
  • Please be aware that each individual venue (School) may have its own guidelines regarding visiting person procedures in the school, these must be observed.
  • Observe both the SHMA Student Code of Conduct & The Educational Martial Arts (TEMAS) Codes, Principles, and Purposes.
