Booking A Class
-
All Students who attend classes using the termly booking system are required to rebook for each new term.
-
SHMA members (students actively training during the current term) are given the opportunity to rebook directly after the school half term week to ensure that you have the opportunity to stay in the same class. Two weeks after the early booking opportunity we open the bookings to new students and students who may be on a waiting list for a particular class. At this time all class places are taken on a 1st booked-1st place given system and we cannot guarantee that a place in the class that the student is currently attending will be available.
-
To rebook, click our website classes tab and select the class you wish to book and follow the booking forms instructions.
Calendar
-
Our term dates and event dates (holiday camps, competitions, clinics, gradings etc) can be found on our website calendar.
-
SHMA term dates may differ from the school calendar term dates.
-
SHMA uses a traffic light system for our calendar:
-
Green: No changes to the regular schedule.
-
Orange: 1 or more class times have been adjusted for this day.
-
Red: All classes cancelled.
-
Blue: No scheduled classes
-
Black: black belt events
-
Pinks/Purples: Student events (holiday camps, clinics, competitions, etc).
-
We ask that you check the calendar regularly throughout the term to avoid missing out on key class/date information (gradings, clinics, holiday camps etc) and also in case a group email from us informing you of a class cancellation or time change may have been directed into your junk box.
Tang Soo Do Uniform
-
New students may wear their school PE kit for their first term of training.
-
At the commencement of a second term a SHMA uniform is required. SHMA uniforms come with the embroidered SHMA logo back patch, the Korean and United kingdom flags displayed on the sleeves and a white belt indicating beginner. No other martial art uniform is permitted.
-
Uniforms may be purchased from our membership area website shop at any point during the students first term.
-
The TEMAS badge (Orange badge) is required when students pass their for 10th Gup (Yellow Belt) and should be sewn onto the uniform to signify the student has entered the SHMA-TEMAS system. The TEMAS badge can be ordered from membership area website shop.
-
-
Uniforms should be washed at a low temperature (under 40 degrees) and never tumble-dried to avoid shrinkage. The uniform belts should always be hand washed separately to avoid any colour run.
-
Once you have washed your uniform (usually there is an initial shrinkage) we ask that you adjust the uniform to the student's size (Trouser & Jacket Cuffs); a little trick to get more time out of the trousers is to roll the waistband once or twice before sewing the trouser hems.
-
Uniforms should be washed regularly to maintain hygiene both for the student and their class partner.
-
Uniform Trims are presented to students upon reaching 6th Gup (Green), 4th Gup (Blue) & 2nd Belt (Red) and we ask that these are sewn on within 4 weeks of presentation of grade.
-
Black Belt Candidates (CDB'S) are required to remove their red uniform trim upon promotion; this signifies the return to basics in preparation for Black Belt.
-
Black Belt Students require black trim on the lapel, cuffs, and around the bottom edge of the uniform top. This trim represents the burden of responsibility they hold for their thoughts and actions.
