What do we wear to class (Updated 12/1/26)
All new students attending their first term are allowed to wear their school PE Kit.
For the second term a Snow Herons Martial Arts uniform and a protective Head-Guard must be purchased at the time of booking.
Students can buy the SHMA uniform and Head-Guard at any point during their first term from our website shop: https://www.snowhermartialarts.co.uk/category/all-products.
Students who wear a SHMA uniform are required to wear the uniform for each lesson,
but they are allowed one "I've forgotten my uniform; can I wear my PE kit?" pass per term.
Students without the required clothing will not be allowed to participate in class and will need to watch the class instead.
SHMA uniforms are the only Martial Art uniform permitted to be worn.
Afterschool Class Snacks (Updated 12/1/26)
The following classes are permitted snacks.
Mondays 3 - 4:30pm 1 snack
Mondays 3 - 5:15pm 2 Snacks
Tuesdays 3 - 4:30pm 1 snack
Mondays 3 - 5:15pm 2 Snacks
Fridays 2:15 - 4:15pm 1 snack
Fridays 2:15 - 4:45pm 2 Snacks
Fresh fruit/fresh vegetables are the only snacks permitted.
Grapes for all students not in secondary school must be halved for safety reasons.
Water is the only drink permitted in all classes.
Contacting Us (Updated 12/1/26)
The SHMA Mobile number (07714 425883) is only to be used (TEXT) to let us know that your child will not be attending class
or that your child will be collected by another person who is not one of your childs nominated collectors.
If you do need to contact us please use the SHMA email or the Contact Us form on our website.
Please DO NOT text on a Sunday or any day after 8pm.
Vehicle Access (Updated 12/1/26)
At the moment due to the amount of parents not following the vehicle access guidlines
we have stopped all vehicle access into the Avenue School with the exceptions below.

SHMA Admininstartion (Updated 12/1/26)
Our Administration team's hours of operation are as follows:
- Mondays: 10 AM - 6 PM - Tuesdays:10 AM - 6 PM - Thursdays:10 AM - 6 PM - Fridays: 10 AM - 6 PM
Please allow up to 5 days to receive a response to your email or contact request,
as well as for term booking confirmations that will be added to the Members-only student section.
Our Code of Conduct
As a student, or a representative of a student at Snow Herons Martial Arts,
you are expected to conduct yourself in a way that is respectful towards all persons at all times.​
​Students and those who represent students or Snow Herons Martial Arts are reminded
to always behave to others as you would like them to behave to you.​​​
​​​We remind you that any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, defame is not permitted.

SHMA has the legal right to refuse or revoke MEMBERSHIP on non-discriminatory grounds,
where the membership, or continued membership, of the person concerned would be likely to
not be in the best interests of the sport or the good conduct and interests of the club.
SHMA has the right to suspend a student immediately while gathering additional information related to a Code of Conduct violation.
This suspension may occur before a consultation with the parents as further details are verified.
The immediate suspension will be communicated confidentially to the student's parents via email.

Late Collection Fees (Updated 12/1/26)
We allow a 5 minute Late collection period which starts at the end of the scheduled collection time as per the class you attended.
After this 5 minutes we charge a late collection fee.

51 - 60 Minutes = £15

All Late payment charges are required to be paid in full before the student attends their next class.
Martial Arts Protective and Sparring Kit Requirements (Updated 12/1/26)
A SHMA Uniform and Protective Head Guard is required for a Students 2nd booked term.
Martial Art Shin Guards are required when a student grades for 10th Gup (Yellow Belt).
Martial Art Sparring Pads are required when a student grades for 9th Gup (Yellow Belt with a White Tag).
Female Sparring Kit: Hand Guards & Foot Guards (the Headguard and Shin Guards have already been purchased).
Male Sparring Kit: Hand Guards, Foot Guards and a Groin Guard (the Headguard and Shin Guards have already been purchased).
All students 11 Yrs+ are required to wear a mouth guard for sparring.
All Students Advanced Belt + are required to wear a mouth guard for sparring.
ALL Students who are Green/Blue Belts are ADVISED to wear a mouth guard for sparring.
All Sparring kit can be brought from our website shop.
You may purchase your own sparring kit, however it must be the same style and colour as ours; if you buy the wrong items you cannot use them.

The Members section student Info will inform you when a student has been approved for their belt grading.
The members section Gradings will guide you through the registration process and provide you with answers to any questions you may have.

Termly Booking & Monthly Payment Scheme (Updated 12/1/26)
Students who are Intermediate and Advanced grades may pay monthly rather than termly
via our Monthly Payment Scheme. Adults of all belt grades may also join this payment scheme.

1 Class Per Week / Month = £45 (Siblings £40)
2 Classes Per Week / Month = £60 (Siblings £50)
Unlimited Classes per week = £75 (Siblings £60)

Students may join the scheme in January, April or September.
All Monthly payments are required on (or before) the 1st of each month.

Photographs taken by parents (Updated 12/1/26)
​Parents are now allowed to take photographs at the following SHMA events:

Belt Gradings, Club Championships, Belt and Certification awards with the provision these are for personal use
and pictures involving any other children are not shared on social media sites.

Photographs taken by SHMA/PARENTS to be uploaded to the SHMA website (Updated 12/1/26)​
We will gain consent for all photos we wish to display on any open aspects of our website prior to posting.
Once we receive consent it will then be parents responsibility to contact us should they wish to have the photograph removed.​
Mobile Phone use During Classes
We recognize that parents watching their child may wish to use their mobile phones during this time.,
for the safety of everyone, we do not allow phone usage in any classes or nearby areas where students may be present.
The only exception is for parents who can present an ENHANCED DBS provide the DBS number to SHMA.
Students attending classes must place their mobile phones face down on the administration table for privacy throughout the entire class.​​
Level, Gup & CDB Grading Certificates
All levels will be awarded a SHMA Certificate, which will be distributed once they are ready.
All Gup students (Yellow+) will receive a TEMAS certificate.
We have updated the system for faster presentation and aim to start issuing all new certificates,
as well as correcting previous spelling errors, after Easter.
Going forward, certificates will be presented within a few weeks of grading.
Credits
Credits in your account (Members Student info) can be utilized for any purpose at any time.
Simply inform us when making a payment that you'd like to deduct your account credit.
Additionally, you can request a return of any credit via bank transfer.
